Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) Awareness
Share
Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) is a group of diseases that effect the weakness of the muscles in the arms and legs. LGMD2i is an ultra rare form of Muscular Dystrophy that can lead to mobility problems along with cardiovascular and respiratory challenges. It is an autosomal recessive form of limb girdle muscular dystrophy, caused by mutations in the FuKutin-Related Protein Gene (FKRP). Due to the fact there is currently no cure for LGMD2I, those who are impacted by the disease experience a shortened lifespan as a result of muscle wasting, along with respiratory complications. All of the profit generated from Beloved Stitching will be donated to the CureLGMD2i foundation. The CureLGMD2i is a non-profit organization that provides advocacy, spreads awareness, and supports drug development & research for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy type 2i/R9. You can help support this amazing cause by purchasing anything from Beloved Stitching. If you would like to learn more about LGMD and how you can help, visit curelgmd2i.org and lgmd-info.org.
